Testimonials

Here at the Energy Balance Lab we take pride in all of projects and the positive results that many of our participants experience in our research. Here is just some of the feedback we have received from our participants.

The KU Weight Control Research Program has helped me accomplish something that I have failed to do time and time again over decades on other programs change my eating and exercise habits from unhealthy to healthy. The program has been easy to follow with good results. I lost over 35 pounds in 6 months and I now exercise regularly. I plan to continue on the program until I have lost a total of 70 pounds.

What makes this program work for me is a structured plan that is easy to follow, tangible results that include not only weight loss but other improvements in health including lowered cholesterol and blood pressure, the excitement that comes from dropping 34 clothing sizes, a phenomenal group of supportive participants in the program who encourage one another, and a leader who is a knowledgeable professional nutritionist who strives to make the program educational and fun.

Meetings are very helpful. I really appreciated the group support since we were all in similar situations and facing the same challenges in losing weight.

The overall diet was not as bad as I thought. I expected to be hungry all the time, but sometimes had a tough time getting all of the minimum amounts of food in because I was so full.

I was really happy with the results I saw from this diet. I have tried lots of different weight loss strategies in the past and have not seen the amount of weight loss that I have seen with this program. The structure has been very beneficial.

I was quite impressed with my results in this weight loss program. Before joining the program at KU, I understood what I needed to do to lose weight but never could successfully incorporate into my lifestyle. The program at KU provided me with the necessary support, accountability, and knowledge to successfully lose weight and keep it off. It's an easy to follow program.

This program has saved my life. By losing over 50 pounds I have gotten my blood pressure and cholesterol levels down and I feel great! I am really motivated to keep the weight off this time and I believe I can by incorporating the things I have learned in this program into my everyday life. I found this program to be very easy to follow and the weight just came off. I know that the exercise portion was the key to losing the weight and plan to continue wearing my pedometer and exercising daily even after the program ends. This does not end my weight loss journey. I know I must continue all facets of this program for the rest of my life or I will end up back to where I began, fat and miserable.

I would like to thank my group leader for all her encouragement and great advice. I would like to thank the other members of my class for all their support and great discussions and tips. I will be very sad when the classes end for good and will miss seeing these people, but I know their email addresses and will reach out if I need more support.

Thanks for getting me healthy and looking fabulous!

I have some good news to share with you. I went the doctor last Friday for a six month follow up. They have been monitoring my numbers because I have diabetes. The last time they saw me was in October 2009. I weighed 184 lbs. Since that time, I started the KU weight loss program and I am down to 169 lbs. I lost 15 lbs since the last time they saw me. I also had lab work done to check cholesterol numbers, HgA1C, blood sugar levels, liver, etc (basically, a lipid profile) along with my waist measurement. I am very HAPPY to say all my numbers were great and I even lost 4 inches from my waist line. I'm down from a 36 inch waist to a 32 inch waist. They were shocked at the way I looked and asked me how I was doing it, and of course, I put in a plug for the KU weight loss program. I am so grateful for you guys! You have helped me improve my life. THANK YOU for being you! Keep up the good work in keeping me on track, I need that accountability. While I haven't reached my desired goal which is to get down to 142 lbs, I am definitely on my way.
