CHEF ID Study


Overview

We are looking for young adults (ages 18-26) with an intellectual disability to join a  24 month research study that will provide a weight management program that includes a healthy meal plan, physical activity, 1 on 1 coaching and either cooking classes or motivational messaging.

Qualifications

  • Age 18-26
  • Have a intellectual disability diagnosis
  • BMI of 25-39.9 kg/m2
  • Ability to communicate through spoken language
  • Have a parent/caregiver to serve as a study partner
  • Willing to travel to KUMC for study appointments

What is provided

  • Monthly virtual one on one health education coaching
  • A healthy meal plan following the Enhanced Stoplight Guide
  • Exercise equipment and tailored exercise videos
  • Technology including a study iPad, Bluetooth scale and activity watch
  • In person cooking classes OR motivational messaging
  • Compensation for your time and travel
