CHEF ID Study
Overview
We are looking for young adults (ages 18-26) with an intellectual disability to join a 24 month research study that will provide a weight management program that includes a healthy meal plan, physical activity, 1 on 1 coaching and either cooking classes or motivational messaging.
Qualifications
- Age 18-26
- Have a intellectual disability diagnosis
- BMI of 25-39.9 kg/m2
- Ability to communicate through spoken language
- Have a parent/caregiver to serve as a study partner
- Willing to travel to KUMC for study appointments
What is provided
- Monthly virtual one on one health education coaching
- A healthy meal plan following the Enhanced Stoplight Guide
- Exercise equipment and tailored exercise videos
- Technology including a study iPad, Bluetooth scale and activity watch
- In person cooking classes OR motivational messaging
- Compensation for your time and travel
